whats happening with the weather

Now that my beloved views (webcams) of Carvoeiro have been taken from me can somebody tell me whats it doing down there these days. I am taking my young family out for Christmas (18th - 29th) and was looking to find out how things are shaping up. Are you talking tee shirt weather during the day or is it too cool for that. I am aware of how cold it can get at night. The temp guage is only reading 17 degrees at peak times these days but i have always found that reading to be below whats actually happening on the ground most of the time. Any advice would be helpful for packing purposes. The weather today is bright and sunny but as always at this time of year can be pleasantly warm in the sun but temperature drops in the shade. Personally I am wearing a cardie going out and about but yesterday I spied folk -obviously holidaymakers -in Algarve shopping wearing shorts and vest tops, so it depends on how much you feel the cold.
The evenings of course get cold and you need some sort of heating, saying that we are off out for a hot tub and a bbq this evening

Being without the webcam brings me back to my school days (a long time ago) when your mum was brought in to talk to the principal and you wait outside holding your breath to see what happens when they come back out You are not in control because you can't see for yourself whats happening

Fortunately, even if the sun isn't shining, you're unlikely to be sent to your room with a stinging bottom & no tea! Although, in your case Robbie, if you don't deliver for your little 'un's (and not so little 'un, 15yrs?) this Christmas, you might as well be??

Too true Ant, too true !!!!!!!!!! But listen, I've taken on bigger fights and won although I must say a 15 year old who is not overly happy with the fact that she is away from her buddies for Christmas cannot be under estimated. If things don't go according to plan I am sure I will get "like I mean hello daddy what are we expected to do today if its raining huhhh"

My late Mama was 80 before she first stepped on a plane!(to Switzerland)

Im sure you will be okay for Christmas. No only from our experience of living in Algarve but from Christmases spent there since, the weather was good and often spent time on the beach. There were folk in swimming on Christmas day a couple of years ago.

p.s. Oh how I remember being 15.....and being AWKWARD! and my own daughter that age too ...you'll survive, have a lovely time & enjoy, wish it was me

Gary and I spent last week out in CVO weather lovely, sat on the beach for an hour or two most days then up on the balcony at our Apt. Hope it stays that way for Robbie, as our Xmas over there last year was lovely and sunny for most of the Xmas period.
PS we weren't the tourists in shorts and vests, although come to think of Gary was, well T shirt anyway
