Travelling alone

Ok - I've been visiting CVO for many years. In January I have the opportunity to take a few days break in my favourite place but unfortunately I will be travelling as a single female. My partner will be away and I have a flight that needs to be used. I know to be careful and to be vigilant and instead of booking a villa as usual I prefer to stay in a hotel (the feeling of security). I am used to driving in the Algarve.

Do you think I'm mad ? I have dined out alone before and that doesn't faze me. Any info from anyone who's done the same,

I guess its not that different to those of us who live here either alone, or when our partners are away for weeks on end (some of us have husbands who work away a lot) and its no different to being anywhere else to be honest, in fact its much safer than being in the UK.

Definitely don't let being alone put you off coming here.

I have done this a couple of times this year as we have purchased an apartment and there was some details that needed dealing with and my husband couldn't get any time off, (or should I say couldn't get as much time off as I could). My only advice is that if you know the area, bars, restaurants, is to stay where you know. I will say, though, it may be worth checking which bars and restaurants will be open as a lot close after christmas and new year.

ten out of ten for being brave and just going for it!! I found that everyone is really friendly nd if you let barstaff know yr on yr own they do tend to watch out for you and tell the weirdos to back off!! Those games machines found in lots of the bars are a good way to look busy and keep entertained until someone interesting comes in to chat to.

I do it all the time and have done for some years now.
Carvoeiro is a nice family place and you soon get to know people.
I have many friends there now and Im not at all fazed on travelling or holidaying alone.

Yep, I also have been out quite a few times on my own, I have not had a problem and have eaten out in the evenings in cvo on my own, walked down to the beach, wandered the shops that are open. So as said don't worry about it just have a wonderful time.

Our place is well outside of cvo and I drive there and back no problems..day or night.

Many thanks for all your positive replies. Right that's it ! I'm coming. It will be great to just chill and have quality peace and quiet. I'll purchase a badge and hope to make to some new friends.

Myself and two female friends are coming out on the 17th January for four nights if your going to be there around that time and fancy some company. You'll probably find us in Angel Bar playing silly drinking games with Aaron!

When I was trying to sort out buying a villa last year, I had a couple of short breaks of a few days in CVO staying at Palm Gardens (where we'd previously stayed ) and had no problems.

I was staying in the villa this October on my own, trying to sort out the licence for the pool, and went to the beach, walked along the cliffs, wore my badge and even made it to one of the meet-ups on my own - again I wasn't worried about being on my own as I tended to go to the places we'd been going to for a few years where I was recognised etc.

Go for it and enjoy.
