Not good news if you prefer BA to Easyjet

Agree about not having to sit with the adult with whom you are travelling. In fact, not too fussed who my son sits with either .... but assume that this was one of the reasons why the let the young and infirm on first so that they can have seats next to their carers.

I just find the whole 'charter charge' thing a bit 'un British' - I was brought up to believe that you allowed people who were less able than yourself the space and time to disembark the bus, negotiate the steps or whatever without trying to shove them out of the way. I think this system is just symptomatic of the 'me first' attitude that I find distasteful about current society.

Needless to say I would probably be the last on and therefore leave someone else the task of looking after my 5 and 7 year boys!

THose in real and genuine need can take advantage of the facility to travel out to the plan in a special vehicle which incorporates a lift avoiding the need to us ehe stairs.

The front seats are also reserved for these passengers.

But there are some ( and we have all seen them ) who claim the need for assistance to get to the front of the queue and then ( have seen this more than once ) literally run of the bus, stick in hand to get to the stairs first.

They are probably the same individuals who take a full shopping trolley into the 10 items queue at the bussiet times of the day .
Glare at the rest of us and count to see how many we are buying.

Can,t wait to be even older and grumpier !!!!

While we're talking about Easyjet does anyone have any experience of what they class as hand luggage? I've just printed off my boarding cards for the weekend and note the picture suggests that those small bags with wheels and collapsible handles are not accepted even if they meet the size criteria - anybody had a problem with taking them on as hand luggage?

Right now I do prefere Easy Jet to BA. Just booked a flight from Faro to East Midlands for Christmas hols, not for me I must add, sorry Jackie O, but I won't be going back there again! Return flight total cost was 85.35GBP including taxes, a bag in the hold, my credit card fee and a Carbon Offsetting fee. Fantastic value for a flight booked only 4/5 weeks in advance. Having regard to the events surrounding Sir Freddie Laker's sad demise and the dispute between Virgin and BA, I have to say, NO WAY BA. Easy Jet, Ryan Air and the rest are to be congratulated for what they have done.
PS, it is not only East Midlands that sends me trawling the internet for alternatives, Knock is also a place that I won’t fly into again. They had the nerve to charge me 10 euros as a departure tax having paid for my very expensive flight (with BA) in full. I asked what would happen if I didn't pay, and was told that they probably would not let me onto the flight!

It seems that BA have taken up slots on the LGW / FAO route. I stumbled on this by chance looking at dates beyond the scheduled demise of the BA / Gb Airways alliance. BA are currently offering two carriers post 31st March on the route ie GB Airways and their own routes.

Hi Mike - Fortunately, I wasn't there but a big disappointment given their recent good run.

Yep it is on the BA site but not in the form an announcement. I just happened to be browsing dates for next year and noticed that there were many more flights. GB Airways flights are still there which of course will disappear at the end of March but there is a new batch of flights with BA as the carrier. Two flights per day but only one at constant times – the second flight moves according to the day of the week.

Good news for everyone as the BA fans get their flights back and the Easyjet people get more choice and hopefully more competition equals more competition on price.

good prices on the east midlands easy jet route for next summer - especially if you are flexible with the dates and use the mid week flights
