There there Pierre-----mon pauvre petit---and Im sure youre European ears are not that old :) and I hope you didn't take offence at my original posting--it was intended partly in fun --not to be taken too seriously :) Im sure we're all guilty of being arrogant/snobby at times--when I look back at how I was in my first months in Algarve--I laugh and think "How ridiculous I was "!
and something we could never accuse Cowboy of--is being arrogant--and thanks Coop --for putting me right about the "General Motors" bit!
I must confess--that when my old French friend puts on his cocky/arrogant bit --I love it------on one of our last dinner dates with him-we were talking "wine" --he'd ordered a very good Bordeaux--he asked if I enjoyed it-I said "mais oui--superbe!"--then he talked about white wines-I made mistake and said"Oh I prefer the German whites" --god I thought he was going to have apoplexy! he nearly exploded.Pulling a long face he said"well--theyre ok--but we French make the best whites too"!Then he went into a big sulk!
He didnt say much to me the rest of the evening :!:
Oh how I love his arrogance

However, Pierre, having been nice, so far, I would like to point out that I find the French to be the most Arrogant people I've met in Europe.

Every time I meet a French person, it Always starts out......"You Americans", and goes from there....

I was in Villa Real, Portugal when the Bush/ Gore election was in doubt (I been there long enough to know the people there, and they to know that I was an American)

Every one there, of course, asked what was going on , and, of coures, I had no idea..( no one in America did either, at that time), and the Portugese accepted that.
But not this French Lady:

So, You Americans" can't even hold an Election

( Yes we can, we just have a problem with this one. ( I still can't explain the Electoral Collage to anyone, then, or now).

Your Country is falling apart

( Look at the T.V....do you see tanks in the streets? Is there smoke from villages in the background? No? We'll deal with it.)

But what are you Americans doing about Violent people with Guns in your Country?

We shoot them.

Well--suppose I must take responsibility for starting this whole thing Coop---re: in saying that I thought the French had it cracked regarding arrogance(and say it as someone with French blood in their veins)---
But Cowboy --from Pierres response to me --he doesn't actually admit to being French--I don't believe he is--his "French" is as good as mine--or maybe a little better(mine isn't good)
So----I believe he is "another" member on forum and in the "guise " of Pierre :)
But so far--I have no idea who :? :?:
By way--we're taking off early in morning--as we have snow here at moment--very chilly :!:

Michael--I think Coop's answer to that French woman "We shoot 'em"! was made purely to see her "horrified reaction"--and I suspect he turned his head away quickly --so she didn't see the big grin on his face--am I right Cowboy?
But have you seen the latest in todays new? Pres. Bush has "ordered" Tony Blair not to visit our troops in Iraq :x
Now "that" is arrogant --and Blair is a spineless wimp----as Tony Parsons says in the Daily Mirror--even grey man John Major would have stood up to him on that one :!:
