Oh dear, I can't believe you're coming to Carvoeiro for Christmas!! I've lived here for 8 years now and I absolutely hate Christmas here, it''s so depressing. There is just not the feeling of Christmas you get in the UK, not even in the shops in the run up to the big day. People go on about the weather being better here but again how can you feel Christmassy when it's 18-20 degrees? Impossible. That will teach you to get drunk!! Hope you have a good one though.

Here's our memory of last Xmas in cvo. Sitting outside drinking beer. Playing on the beach. Watching a fantastic sunset

So a good christmas is spending weeks avoiding the crowds out to shop themselves to death.
Avoiding queues of traffic trying to get into every shopping centre from the moment they open.
Avoiding even bigger crowds of anti social drunks who infest town centres for most nights.
Finding out that the last of those special presents that the spent a fortune on at christmas is a " piled high " special offer just a few days afterwards in the sales.

Spending loads on the extra food items , most of which you end up throwing away as they go out of date.
( who eats nuts that you have to shell anyway ).

Watching far too much tv surrounded by bored flatulant relatives and children.

BAH HUMBUG.

Our Christmas day will ( hopefully ) be sunny and warm, bucks fizz and bacon sandwiches, lunch with friends, maybe end up in the pool, home not to late and a game of golf on boxing day

Oh robbie don't be put off. I was looking at our pics from last year with us sitting on our balcony over looking CVO beach eating boxing day lunch with all the trimmings in our T'Shirts. it'll be fine. We are out next weekend of the 1st Dec just for a week this time, but will be back Xmas 2008 complete with cheap tree and bubles we still have stashed away in our wardrobe. Just let us know how it went off

I feel really guilty now. Everybody has a different opinion and that is just mine. Come and spend Christmas here and if you hate it you'll know not to do it again and put it down to experience, if you love it you'll be glad you didn't listen to me and you can book up again as soon as you get home. I think what makes it worse for me is that I have a 3 year old and I feel like I'm giving him a deprived childhood by not having a Christmas with the offchance of snow!! I'm sure you'll enjoy yourself with all your family around you.

Christmas isn't about where you are it's about how you feel, I loved Christmas in England & I love it here. Wherever I might be in the world,war zones & disaster areas excluded, I'm sure I would still love Christmas. As gaynor said it's what you make it.
Come to think of it some of the Christmases we had in England felt like I was in a war zone & disaster area.

There will be a ski slope, complete with artificial snow in the Praça da Pontinha in Faro this year if you really want the White Christmas effect

Robbie you and your family will have a lovely time in Carvoeiro for Christmas. One thing worth mentioning for you to do is on Christmas Day and on New Years Day they have a fund raising swim, usually in Fancy Dress at the Hotel Garbe in Armacao de Pera money is raised to buy shoes for children at the orphanage. We have been on New Years day and it is fun, hot chocolate is served after the swim in the hotel.
We shall be at Rocha Brava for Christmas so I hope the weather will be kind for all of us.
