We have had electric shutters fitted which lock down when the power is off.

Is the problem mainly on holiday complex,s and as we have seen elsewhere ususally the result of guests leaving doors and windows open.

So what happens then if there is a fire trapping you in your bedroom and the fire blows your electrics. Your shutters are down and locked!!! How then do you get out of your firetrap???

By the way there really is no need to SHOUT!

I am not sure, but I would imagine that they have a manual override that you can operate from inside only?

We've had electric shutters fitted & there doesn't appear to be a manual override. Stupidly we didn't think to check before having them installed it was only when my sister asked about powercuts that we thought about it  . One of my biggest fears in the UK was fire & how the children would get out in the event of a fire, our builder in the Algarve said that house fires don't spread in the same way as the UK, no carpets, plaster board etc. Concrete floors & walls don't fuel the fire in the same way.
