So you want a big headache?. In answer to some of your questions.Bikes need road tax in Portugal but no mot as yet. to matriculate any motorbike in Portugal through an agent it will cost you 750 Euros whatever the engine size. Also to matriculate it from English to Portugese it has to have done 10,000 kms approx or it will be classed as new and then you have to pay vat at 21% on the declared new value of the bike to be proved by original receipts. Also you have to provide Eu conformity certification that the bike conforms to EU regs these have to be obtained from the bikes manufacturer. Now if you reg it in UK, apart from the 6 Month time limit in Portugal you will have to get its mot in the uk after three years also you will be a prime target on a monkey bike for the GNR as there are not many here and even fewer on UK plates so you will be noticed. If i can help or hinder any more PM me.

Any idea what would happen if you bought one new from China or wherever and had it shipped straight to your Portugal address. Would it then be easier and cheaper to register it? If so, it might pay to sell the one you have on Ebay and buy a new one.

I suspect that this is beyond the knowledge of our regulars. Did you get the bike directly from China or through a UK importer. It might be that you could check with the importer to see if they have an email address for an importer in Portugal, who may be able to advise.
