It is the one that has a large lifesize model of a chef outside (which I think ruins the feel slightly!) Had a nice meal there - first place we were served chopped carrots in garlic instead of sardine paste for the cover.

 Had a great meal here last week. Huge portions, the crab special starter was really enough for three people let alone one. However I helped Ian to eat it all as well as my own starter. Staff really friendly and mainly the same staff as last year. Well worth a visit.

We were there 2 weeks ago on our first night, pretty late and all starving. Son couldnt wait for gypsy schnitzels (sp). Huge portions couldnt eat it all. Fillet steak was nice too. The large beers went down a treat :D

First place we ever ate in on our first visit to CVO in 1987. Our regular first night haunt whenever we return. The family that run it always seem pleased to see you as do the staff and the food is consitantly good.

Don't want to sound like I am disagreeing with you matmat, but I get a sense that its actually improved over the last 2-3 years. Can't quite put my finger on what or when though.

Unfortunately a few years ago we had a completely awful meal and since the memory has stayed with us we have never returned. Maybe it's time to give it another go ? or maybe not ! It was probably around 5 years ago

We have been going there for 3 or 4 years - have always had great food, extremely large portions, cannot manage 3 courses without effort. Very friendly service, not expensive. Cannot recommend it enough.

Been going there for 14yrs. My favourites are the squid sevilla, and the Lanterna desert. Recommended. Like atmosphere downstairs best.

Went here on Saturday. I like the Lanterna because it has lots of unusual dishes on the menu, the service is good and the food delicious but far too much.

Can't tell you if it was expensive because we we're guests 8) 8)

If you've never been go, you won't regret it

This used to be a favourite haunt but for no particular reason we have stopped going there recently. We always enjoyed dining downstairs outside as a family in the spring / summer but as our four daughters are of an age where they do their own thing for holidays, and we are rarely all in Carvoeiro at the same time, we have drifted away from this restaurant. The food was good and the service very friendly – must pay it a visit when we are back in February.

We went there again this last trip and the food was as good as ever, and at reasonable cost. But, what huge portions, which is all very well but then we can't manage a dessert, which is a shame. I feel they should cut down on portions which are far too big, unless you are American!
