This is the new butchers in Carvoeiro, and it is very good. It is run by the South African guy that started the enterprise in Woking. We have bought beef olives, rack of lamb and biltong. The latter is a South African speciality, and is dried spiced beef. Really is delicious. Other people like it too, since he shifts 300kg of it per week from the Woking store, much of it mail order. Hope he succeeds in CVO.
his shop looks nice , well laid out , think he is going to work 3 days in cvo , and 3 days in england , good luck , see more at www.bluerockbilltong.com
I shall look forward to seeing the shop when we come out and perhaps get some to try. The other butcher that used to be there had really good products as does the wonderful market in CVO

Go uphill at the Estrada do Farol; turn left at the restaurant "Laterna Velha" into the Rua do Cerro and you find the market after 50m at you right hand side. As far as I know it is open every morning during week days.
Take a look at this link (map) click here

Quite surreal! His Woking (actually Bisley) shop is just over a mile from my home in the UK, and now he has a shop just over a mile from me in Carvoeiro - have I got a stalker
Must say what alovely guy he is in the new butchers, not only polite and friendly but really helpful too with all sorts of serving suggestion etc. You have to try the things he does for the little deli counter....delicious!!!
My family and I are in Carvoeiro for Christmas. Can anyone tell me if he does fresh turkeys ??? If not, does anyone know can you get one in Intermarche. I won't be there until 20th Dec and was afraid that they would all be gone !!!!!
i know you can order a turkey from blue rock, if he cant get enough then apolonia do turkeys as well, a bit expensive but if you really want all the xmas trimmings then its a good supermarket to go to
