I have eaten at A Vela three times this year and on each occassion the food has been excellent and I would thoroughly recommend it. They also have a good wine list. All reasonably priced. Incidentally they do not do chips, which makes a refreshing change.

We were in there last week and had chips (well French Fries actually). Great place and great food every time we've been.

They do serve chips, depends on what you order & then they give you a choice chips or cheesy potatoes (sort of Dauphinoise), very nice.

I've never heard of this restaurant, but it sounds great, so I'll give it a try the next time I'm out, which hopefully won't be too long

We've just got back from the village having gone into A Vela:

* There is New Year's Eve party (Portuguese style)
* Entertainment (Don't know who - yet)
* Cost €39 Euro per head
* Soup at midnight (Portuguese tradition)

Geoff - they very seldom use their e-mail. I was told that by info@myalgarveinfor.com when I tried to make contact initially. When we went there yesterday they told us they don't check it regularly.
