Not that rare Joey! Who would have thought that little Ryanair whom started with one plane would end up as Europe's largest carrier. 'Mad' Michael O'Leary is hugely entertaining but nobody would want to cross swords with him! ;) I can remember the old days when a return air fare to Baile Atha Cliath was at least £350 with Aer Lingus and their partners-in-crime British Airways!

Dunnes Stores should spread out into the UK. Its clothing is superb!

I would not bank on Ikea for a few years yet, there is an active local campaign against it.

Apparently they have started - 6 stores in England according to their website. I checked but I was confusing them with Dunne & Co - a clothing shop in Southampton.

I came back from a week in CVO last Thursday. Was not impressed with the minimarkets. Could do with a small Waitrose or M&S.

Yes I know....based on Loule Camra running a local trade protection campaign.

I suspect that a little local "planning gain" will circumvent those objections....it certainly works in England!!

I understand that IKEA are carrying on with their planning.

Not anymore its not - Associated British Foods (ABF) saved it from disaster several years ago just as it was about to go 'pop'. Before the Brits become all sanctimonious - ABF is owned by Wittington Investments a Canadian company (for those who don't know) which in turn is owned by the Weston family :)
