Rental Scams

I almost have been a victim of a rental scam (as a owner).
I received an email from somebody in Canada interested in renting my villa, turned out it was a scam to get my NIB number, although I am not sure how they would manage to take money from my account.

Thank God there are Internet and Google.

Don't worry about that, according to our bank, you are perfectly safe. Your NIB number is of no use other than to put money into your account. There is no way anyone can remove money from your account with it.

The letter I received was "copy-paste" from this site:

Thats why it was so easy to google it.

No, it's thanks to you being sensible. Well spotted. Unfortunately there are a lot of gullible people out there, hence the vast number of scams.

The old adage, a fool and his money are soon parted, has been proven via the Internet time and time again.
