Hello everyone - Carvoeiro blues
Hi all - have just popped in tonight to drool over the webcam and catch up on some news - maybe you can help us - you lot were brilliant with my last minute questions before we left for our holiday - thanks so much. Seems like forever ago now - we've been back nearly 4 weeks and are are suffering huge withdrawals. Our house sale is dragging along (well it's just not selling!) and we keep doing our sums and it's looking so tight whether we can make to CVO permanently or not.
Does anyone have the name of a Portuguese acccountant and a lawyer that you can recommend so that if things get moving eventually we can get in contact and get the ball rolling?? We were hoping to go back out in October and sort things out legally but it may be later than that now. At least talking here helps as I feel a bit closer to where our heart lays!!
Anyway I had better go off to bed now - night night all and if anyone has any info please post it - depressed Liz

Lawyer-wise we hired Doctora Rosemary Alves Correia of the Lagoa law firm J. Placido Santos (rac_jpslaw@clix.pt). She did an excellent job for us, very helpful and efficient. She has subsequnetly also been very helpful with general legal enquiries. Soveriegn have been very helpful with accuntancy advice - I plan to see them when there in September to sort out the offshore ownership thing.
Best of luck - go for it, you only live once!

Hooray - house sold!!!
What a day - thanks so much for that info - we will definitley be following them up!! I can't believe that our house has been up for 6 months and nothing but today we have received 2 offers - both the asking price!!! I am still shaking!! So we are going to have to pull our fingers out big time now - starting with estate agents in the town. We got a couple of cards from some when we were there but have managed to loose the best one - (we had it on Sunday!). Can you guys tell us the name of the estate agent that is the last on the right as you go out of the town (or first on your left as you come in) - it has a collenade all along outside it and the others (I think there are 2 there!) We need to phone them so a phone number would be really brilliant. Then we can guage if we can really afford it as it is so tight looking financially. This particular estate agent told us that the middle to end of Sept is a really good time to buy as lots of properties that have been rented all summer come back on the market for sale so prices reflect this. Any opinions on this??? Very excited and hopeful that we can pull this off - all your support is great - thanks a million .
I think the agent you're looking for is DSI - they have a link on here and their email address is dsialgarve@hotmail.com. They currently have apartments for sale in Monte Dourado. I know how you feel - we are also hoping to move to Carvoeiro soon!!
Property
Thanks for that - have wizzed an email off to them!! The only problem with us is our encumberances - bless'em - 4 kids 2 dogs!! We need 3 beds and a garden at least ,if not a pool, which puts the price up such a lot and we want to do it without a mortgage ideally. We may have to go outside CVO but at least it'll still be a lot closer than Tring is LOL. Any suggestions - what realistically we can pay is about euros 190 000 - not alot!! to be mortgage free! oooh help - Liz
House Selling
Oh good luck to you too - it really has been the most stressful 6 months since we put our house on. Initailly we had planned to go to Suffolk but our first buyer pulled out and then we had our holiday in CVO. Our fifth visit there - our favorite place and we have always planned to retire there but we both felt we would far rather move out here than go to Suffolk! It may yet be back to Suffolk if we can't get the sums right. Cross your fingers for us won'tt you - talk soon and again good luck - it's a hell of a time. Liz
