Best place for a lunchtime snack/light meal

Can anybody advise on some good places to have a light lunch - not too far walking distance from Beach at Carvoeiro. Have been to usual ones ie. Grand Cafe but want to try somewhere different and not too expensive.

Try IMPREVISTO on the left hand side on out road from square approx 100m.
Excellent rolls and snacks.

You could also try Smilers as well , on corner of out road
Do lovely Ham, Cheese and Pineapple toasties!!! The omelettes arent bad either.........ENJOY!!!

Why don't you try A Boneca at Algar Seco. It's at the end of the road that goes along from the church (about a 10 minute walk). It's at the bottom of some steps set in amongst the cliffs with spectacular scenery, a great place to sit and relax.

,fantastic. we watched the footy there a cuple of times last october,it was gr8 and the English lady owner is sound 2! also try helens suggestion above,gr8 views but a bit pricey+you have 2 get a key for the toilet wich can be a bit annoying,
enjoy the hol!

Thanks for the replies. Have been in Smilers plenty of times so know all about football and the food - the men folk would eat and live in there

thats why we wanted to see if there was anywhere else for a change - maybe we should change the men

I agree with you on the place at Algar Seco - its very expensive and so we try to go there after we have already eaten in the town and maybe we have just been unlucky when we have visited but the service was very slow as well and they werent very happy when I didnt have exact money to pay bill - havent encountered that attitude in any other places in Carvoeiro or elsewhere

How about Cafe Matabixo above the wine/shop between Sully's and Smiler's where you can watch the world go by?

O Boteco gets my vote.. a bit uphill to whet your appetite but superb view and a special lunch menu when you get there.

How strange

I couldn't agree more with Gordon and Sandy about L'Orange (see Bon Bon topic)

, but O Boteca certainly gets my thumbs down for food. One of the few places where my plate went back to the kitchen half full. View and location are great, and here's some additional comments from our guest book.

O Boteca
Great view over the ocean but the food is disappointing. Good place to have drinks or wine before going to dinner somewhere else. Beer served nice and cold. Fish soup really salty. Prawns over cooked.

Delightfully situated restaurant – food OK. Agree that the seafood soup is really salty. Goat chop worth a miss. Good lawn for a toddler.

Haven't been there for 2 years now - has it changed dramatically ?

Also a nice place: MC Café at Monte Carvoeiro, next to Mama Mia Pizzeria. Recently changed hands and now offering a nice breakfast and also light lunches throughout the day. Lots of dutch specialities as well!

I've had good relations with Via Italia up the hill on the left from Cvo Beach. If you were 2 and wanted to split a pizza there would be no chi-chi from the people running the resto.

Pfffffff it is a real bummer to be back from a lovely but short holiday.
Anyway I used to go to a very lovely beach every day just outside Carvoeiro. I do not know the name of the beach but it's next to the mansion (villa) of Roger Moore. I found the beach restaurant (which is run by a guy named Louis) there quite nice. Fresh fish, good meals and a lovely sea view. The prices are OK and the company is great. Furtermore it is not too crowded and it seems that lot of the locals go there.
