Yes we have stayed there. Lovely apartments ideally situated. If you are looking for a relaxing holiday in a quite location yet very close to the town centre Villas Do Mar is excellent.
We booked are apartment - number 4, through villasdomar@hotmail.com. This was excellently equipped and the owner does everything to make your holiday special.

Guest,

That was a lovely compliment, but could you tell us a bit more - some examples of how you were made to feel different/special ?

There are a number of owners on this forum, and I'm sure many of us would be happy to learn and improve.

Matt, Can you describe what qualifies as a hole???

Maybe property owners would be interested to learn from that description too?

the "hole"

Post by Matt K »

happy 2 oblige guest. The villa mentioned was very poorly kept, the kitchen was close 2 unusable, the bedrooms were very damp( resulting in coughs for all are family) the pool was unheated and never cleaned even when this service had been promised 2 us, and also the living area seats smelt like sumthing, or someone, had recently died upon them. The vila was bearable for a week by basically staying out for aslong as possible during the day. However, this villa was not privatly owned, it was part of a JMC package deal and so thats probably why it had been overlooked as it had not been cared for personnally. We learned the hard way and so will be booking our holiday privatley, probably the vilas do mar apartment!
hope this has helped!

Hi again,
We are the family that replied to Matts request for info on Villas Do Mar.
To answer the request from other owners for information on the special service offered by the owner here goes:
-Starts are the initial call requesting information.
Trying to match our requirements with what is available and not just taking the booking at any costs. This was specific to the age of the children. As we all know, if the kids are not happy then the success of the holiday is definately in doubt!
-Forwarding detailed info on the apartment, location, and amenities, prior to booking.
We knew exactly what to expect and what was available.
-Obvious like of the area, gave detailed breakdown of the bars and restaurants they liked and used and places to go and see!
-Assistance with travel and car hire if required.
And much more over the preceding months of our holiday!
Hope this helps!!

I have given this some thought too, based on some previous experiences renting villa's and one thing that made my family feel special was a hand written note on a notelet that said

"Hi, we do hope you enjoy your stay in our villa, and if there are any problems please contact . . . ., we want your stay to be happy one. On a personal note some of our favourites are Caneiros Beach, A Gale for the Garlic Mushrooms, Happys for the Fish & Chips, Smilers Bar to watch the world go by, Slide & Splash Waterpark for the little ones, we could go on - you will find your own!

Happy Holiday" and an illegible signature.

Undoubtedly written en masse in England on a freezing, rainy January sunday and handed to the maid to put out for each new arrival but a lovely touch, just the same.

One other thing and I guess many of you do this, this particular villa also had a visitors book, where people left a note about their stay, their favourites, business cards, etc. Great reading :)

Vilas do Mar

Post by Admiral »

Just returned from a great week in CVO and stayed at Vilas do Mar -ideally situated; great sea view from the terrace; very clean. It's only a short walk down the hill to the square. Getting back to the apartment is a different story, but a fortifying break at Charly bar before attempting the climb helps tremendously. This was my first visit back to CVO in nineteeen years. Lots of changes, but Carvoeiro retains its charm. Unfortunately can't say the same about Praia da Rocha - that used to be such a lovely place; and likewise for Quateira. (At some point we are all going to get sick enough at the mindless graffiti and its equally mindless perpetrators to do something about it.)
As I said, CVO was great; we had great meals, prices seemed OK. Especially enjoyed Happys, Cantinho, Chefe Antonio, Ramires in Guia for Frango Piri-Piri, the restaurant on the cliff overlooking Benagil (we were there early in the week and I can't remember its name offhand; too much alcohol in the ensuing days). We even managed a day trip on the train to Lisbon from Tunes. There was only time to get a taste of the city (a bus tour and a tram tour), but enough to make us want to return. Also we had great people watching sessions at Smilers and did some damage at the ice cream shop. We also managed to contribute to the wellbeing of the owners at Sully's and the Jailhouse. The only disappointment was that, despite my modest pleas, nobody left me a drink behind the bar at Smilers. So I responded in kind and didn't leave any drinks for you lucky devils who have still to visit. :) :)

STAYED AT A4 VILAS DO MAR IN JUNE FOR 2 WEEKS. APARTMENT WAS SUPERB WELL EQUIPED & IN A NICE LOCATION.THE OWNERS WERE VERY WELCOMING & NOTHING WAS TOO MUCH FOR THEM,MY YOUNG SON WAS ILL & THEY CAME TO CHECK HOW HE WAS EVEN GOING AS FAR AS TO RING THEIR DOCTOR IF WE HAD NEEDED HIM! WHEN THE APARTMENT WAS CLEANED LITTLE TOUCHES LIKE FRESH FLOWERS WERE LEFT IN THE ROOM.I WOULD NOT HESITATE TO RECOMMEND THIS APARTMENT TO ANYONE AND WOULD HOPE TO GO BACK VERY SOON! ISABELLE
