General forum posting
OK, following on from: Why do people join, and why do people leave? Do you think that the Mods should delete off-topic posts and banter from the General Forum, leaving it an info-only forum thus leaving the banter etc. to Chit-Chat??

One consequence of making General info-only is that in might encourage a few more 'guests' to become full members and thus be able to take part in the fun bit of this forum.
The 'problem' with guests' posts is their inability to edit or delete their own posts. If a member had put 'teste' instead of 'test' in one of my topics they could have easily edited it and changed it - if it were a mistake. If it wasn't a mistake then they would have been unable to post anonymously.
I still think that if someone wants to make use of this forum and its facilities, they should become members to do so.

I disagree with this topic entirely Michael...the forum should never have been changed in the first place. Its been proved that Registered Members are still insulting, no better than the rest of us Guests........and the ones who want the changes are coming across as BULLIES & SNOBS.
If you want to please people like that Michael, you'll never have time for the backgammon.
Maddi and Rod have obviously been observing the forum too and the pecking order and feathers are flying already since Maddi made a post........could see that coming a mile off
So could you Rod

I don't recall anyone saying that members are better than anyone else Pammie. I certainly don't see myself as either a bully or a snob by being a member and for wanting change, and I am pretty sure that other members who feel the same will be pretty brassed off that you think of them in that way!
As for the feathers flying its, yes you are right and I could see that happening too.
As far as I am aware there is no pecking order to the Forum, it is a bunch of people, some of whom have met, that chat and yes sometimes the conversations get heated, but as Bruxy said earlier that is life!

Thats life.........I agree Sharon so why do people keep banging on about going off topic etc., if they stopped producing topics on change then there would be less for the rest of us to trawl through
If people want to be control freaks then feel free I'm not stopping them.......they are trying to stop the likes of me...they can't have it both ways

Going off-topic is fine for Chit-Chat; it's what's it's all about. We were shipped off there so that the serious side of the forum could concentrate on General . . . but it's becoming as chit-chatty as Chit-Chat; and that - understandably - upsets some members/guests.
I see no reason at all not to make General chit-chat and banter free - if members want to chatter they can do so in Chit-Chat; and if guests want to chatter . . . they can join.
