Alfa connects Porto to Faro in less than six hours
CP - Comboios de Portugal (Trains of Portugal) will make two direct connections per day, in each direction, between Porto and Faro with Alfa Pendular trains. The journey will be done in five hours and 55 minutes, with stops in Gaia, Aveiro, Coimbra,
Oriente, Entrecampos, Pragal, Pinhal Novo, Tunes, Albufeira and Loulé.
The start of this service is planned for 11th December.
On the Linha do Norte (Northern Line), the conclusion of the modernisation of some more stretches allows the reduction of time on the leg between Lisbon and Porto by ten minutes. From Santa Apolónia to Campanhã, the Alfa Pendular will now take two hours and 49 minutes.
The Intercities will also gain five to ten minutes on the journey, because the CP have re-modelled the carriages, preparing them to travel at 200km/hr, where before they were limited to 160km/hr.
The CP are maintaining their strategy of concentrating on the coastal axis of Porto-Lisbon-Algarve, whilst in the rest of the country, the order is to reduce the services
