HOW LONG ???

AS one of our options we are considering the purchase of a plot of land with permission to build ( confirmed ).
However, how long WILL it take to get the permitt to build once the full set of plans are submited ( Silves Camara ).
We have been told 3-4 months but how realistic is this ???

I would say more along the lines of 6 months to be more realistic.

Lizz, We bought in the Silves/Messines area in october 2002. Signed all the bits in March 03, plans submitted september 03 and passed in august 04. It took ages but we were told that the fires in 03 had caused a loy of 'extra' work for the Camara. Buoilding started in December 04. We went for a reatoration licence and a newbuild, hope this helps. Goodluck. Liz

I believe it is about 7 to 8 months mimimum from when an architect submits the plans i.e first ambient department approval and then local câmara. Unfortunately, sometimes they take forever to submit them...so who knows

Mind you, you say that it already has approval...so does that mean it has been approved by the ambient?

Lizz, if you register as a member I am quite willing to send you some other comments (hopefully helpful and constructive) regarding this issue, as it can be a bit of a minefield.

Lizz, why dont you ask our unwelcome Portuguese neighbour..who lives in Porto... how he has gotten away with building without planning permission a 3 bedroom holiday home in Silves and wait for.......managed to acquire electricty from the EDP without a Planning or Habitation Licence and regular deliveries of water from Silves fire station. Both these services have to give their approval for a "legal" newly built property to acquire a habitation licence from Silves Camara, that is of course after gaining an approved project to build in the first place.
At this precise moment, I am looking at a bonfire "yes" a bonfire in drought August weather lit by my unwelcomed neighbour in the middle of ecological land in order for him to cook his sardines....With a bit luck he will hopefully burn his illegale property down and disappear.
