Hi Alex,
those are well situated townhouses very suitable for a couple of weeks in the summer but usually not very adequate for the winter.
Standard is 2 bedroom, 2 bathroom, kitchenette, livingroom and a terrace with a great view over the town out to sea.
Most facilities are within walking distance and the Carvoeiro centre square is about 800 meters away, but you have to take into consideration, that Colina Branca is also known as the infamous "Cardiac Hill" and it is quite a steep climb after an evening meal
There are about 30-odd units in the complex which was built in the mid-80s. Some have been refurbished since, but be prepared to find older appliances and plastic toilet seats if you are not lucky

My family have stayed at Colina Branca for several years and we return later this month for what has become the annual fortnight.
Gambrinus is right with his comment about what was the old donkey track up to the complex from the town. It is a killer
, but not too bad - you get used to it - but if you have one of the higher numbered houses (there are three "ranks" of 7 town houses built on the hillside) the lift up to the pool level followed by the steps from the pool area up to the lower level are an easier option.
Some of the kitchens and bathrooms are a little tired, but they are kept clean with regular maid service and the complex managers are very helpful if there is any problem. Many of them have been refurbished.
The communal pool is large but does not have a shallow end suitable for small children (it's about a metre deep at the shallow end), unless you're in the pool with them. Ours learned to swim pretty quickly!
There is a poolside bar serving hot and cold drinks and snacks.

Colina Branca
Thanks for the inputs,
I have been quoted for an apartment in Tranquillo which on web looks good how do they compare with Colina Branca.
Also one son is 18 months and the other is 4 I really need something safe and central.
