Water Heaters

I know this subject has been raised before, but I am interested in any recent experience. We want to change the old gas boiler sytem in the villa we have just purchased. The current system runs on small gas bottles which sit on the floor in the laundry - not very pretty. We were considering changing to an electrically heated tank, but were put off by Autoheat. The objection was the long reheat time. We have stayed in townhouses in Monte CVO, which have electric systems, and three of us have managed to shower in the morning without the water running cold. The villa will only be occupied by two of us for most of the time. Does anyone have experience of electric systems?

http://www.clagesobotka.cz/index_e.php may be worth a look. They make some high powered instentaneous electric water heaters. Despite the web address they are a German company. These and other similar heaters are available in the Algarve. The advantages are non stop hot water and not paying to keep water hot. The disadvantage is not running cost but the amount of electricity consumed when they are operating. To provide water to several outlets you might need a 12 or 18KW rating. Check the villas electricity connection. Remember you may wish to use other electrical equipment - cookers, air con etc at the same timeThe "potencia contrada" is the key. Getting your supply uprated by EDP is not always easy.
