what a disgrace
according to the news today...the gnr lot in albufeira who were being tried for corruption..one got 9 years..a lot got off and some got suspended sentences..the business people who had been part of the corruption were told that they should pay a "fine" of 25000 euros to a local charity.
so if your a policeman on the take and on the make..you stand a good chance to get off...and if your a business man behind it all you get is a modest fine...about the price of a car.
well now we know where we stand:evil:

Well at least the ones found 'guilty' were given jail time. In England they would have only gotten 3 months and that would have been in a cushy open prison with all mod cons. so be thankful they are doing time.as for the business people well they get away with things all the time all over the world.

GNR
Unless I misread the report in my hurry I recall that 10 got prison sentences from 2 years upwards with the "ringleader" getting 9 and a half years! Sounds fairly heavy to me.
The business men got suspended sentences and have 6 months to pay over 25,000 euros each which will go to support childrens charities in the area. Good idea - why should the state suport them in prison. Bet they won't do it again!

well no yes no harm in going to charity but only 25 thousand...if it had been 100000 maybe they wouldnt do it again...as for the police getting two years...well if thats "heavy" for what a corrupt police man gets i suppose a thief gets 3 months at a local aparthotel.
no sorry the sentences are far too light and those busines people got away with a very small fine indeed...i wonder how much they made when they were enjoying the fruits of corruption..
