quick visit report

Post by sunman »

just back from a nice few days in lovely Cvo, some observations;

- the airport is undergoing yet more development & is looking really good.

- Steen's YOR car hire; 10/10 for ease of booking, car, collection process, price, dealing with tolls; recommended.

- town looking good, plenty of upgrading already going on for next year.

- residents & business owners all reporting a mega summer; the demise of other holiday destinations is a boom for The Algarve.

- property market seeing a resurgence; mostly in the €250/- to €350/- range, and a noticeable amount of French demand.

- nobody uses the motorway, it's all on the 125, when will they get rid of the tolls?????

- plenty of bars & restaurants open in late November, good to see :) (and enjoy)

- IKEA near the airport nearly finished; and how many more supermarkets can Cvo handle? there's loads of them!

- Carvoeiro Clube has absorbed the tennis club & is developing all round it, great for the club & the area.

- The Almansor Hotel is undergoing massive renovation, inside and out.

- Colina Sol (honeycomb hotel overlooking Centiannes) looking much better, vast majority of the apartments now nicely painted up.

- Vale do Milho area all newly tarmacked, ADM now undergoing the same, looks good.

- fresh evidence of cliff falls on the main beach, how safe are the hills on each side???

there's probably more but we came away feeling very heartened, the area is in a good place.(boom boom) 8)

yes Alf, I found it all very upbeat,

& I forgot to mention, our villa's having a bit of work done so we stayed in the Mirachoro Hotel on restaurant hill, €40 per night with breakfast included, very comfortable & a great location, also highly recommendable.

Hi Sunman
Don't disagree with any of your observations, especially Steen and YOR. Been using them for years and found them excellent. Family use them and no problems.
Toll road? Have used several times when over beginning of November, and tried to think of difference before they brought in the tolls. ?? Quieter but still traffic, mainly cars, very few HGV!!
Rock falls, checked back some of my photos taken from road opposite GNR hill and quite dramatic the difference from 7 years ago! Always tell family and friends if they go to a beach, stay well away from the rock faces.

So looking forward to next visit, probably February 2017 with family.

We were in cvo for 3 weeks in August and noticed this too. Lots of French reg cars everywhere.

One of the apartments in our complex was put up for sale after the few months ago - by all accounts sold in weeks and new owners are from France. (Different apartment also sold since the summer with minimum advertising)
