Car Port

Post by santos »

Would any one care to shed any light on whether or not permission is required to build an open sided car port please?

Thnx

I can only relate my experience and the advice provided by a property developer, a builder and the car port company which was, that as it is viewed as a temporary structure - being timber and without sides, that no planning permission was necessary. If you live on a complex there may be restrictions.

For your interest I used Bensons and they did a very good job.

Hope this helps

thanks for the reply which is consistent with what I have been told by a few people but none were 100% sure.UK laws are as you described and I would expect a temp structure even with brick columns not to require all the hassle of planning, inspections providing a reputable competent builder is involved.
