Lisbon trams
Lisbon trams
Hi All, sorry to have to report another crime that has happened to me in Portugal. We have been visiting Lisbon and thought it might be nice to take a tram, unfortunately my husband had his cash stolen from him whilst on the tram. Spoilt the trip for me but not a lot you can do about it. Hopefully this posting might help to remind others that theiving is rampant on these crowded trams. The police are fully aware of it but seem powerless to do nything about it. Before buying a place in Portugal we never had a problem with crime now its becoming common place each time we visit.

We used the tram to Belem a few years ago and also the 28 'tourist' tram. Was aware of pickpocket warnings but I don't think there's a lot you can do if targetted. The 28 was relatively empty the evening we travelled on it. By all accounts it's when trams are crowded that the organised gangs operate,

Re: Lisbon trams
Pick pocketing happens in almost all major cities and specially in places where tourists go, so you must double your attention and take some extra care when on public transportation.
