Portugese cooking

Can anyone reccomend a good recipe book which covers the main Portugese style of cooking? I have tried to immitate the dishes we have when we are out in cvo, but never quite get it right, would love to have a good recipe book, any ideas?? Boa Tarde, muito obrigada.

go to google and type in 'portuguese recipes' . That should keep you going for a while

Hi Lesley - my fave is www.allrecipes.com - just search for 'Portuguese' and you will be salivating within minutes! Pork clams, caldo verde, chourico and peppers...mmmmm.

I often use my copper cataplana in Muscat.
Look for recipes for seafood Cataplana dishes - delicious and healthy too, and can be made in a casserole just as easily.

Best meal ever in CVO??....... Codfish Cataplana at Palmeira Restaurant. just up from the town marketplace.

I have an interest in tradition Portuguese food, but I find many dishes either too salt, too bland or too lacking in colour (presentation is all important), but its always healthy, delicious and satisfying. The Portuguese value tradition; and the food, like the language, is not subject to change.
So, I like to take ideas and basic ingredients of favourite Portuguese dishes, and serve with eclectic influences……what’s cooking’s all about

Thanks everyone, will look on the sites given and keep trying with my own versions of the meals we have eaten in cvo. I love fish and I like the simple way the Portugese use veg, healthy and usually tasty but I agree with digger sometimes can be bland, or very garlicy.
