Rafol? Is it your short form of Rafaiol's Alfanzina? If so, you are absolutely right.
This restaurant, owned by Osvualdo and his wife Peggy, is one of our absolute favourites and we have spent many many evenings there, especially in the off-season, and were always treatened like friends. BTW: The cataplana is highly recommended. :D

It is either Restaurant O Farol or Rafaiol's Alfanzina, you can find both on the map below.

Rafaiol's is on the right just before the road in to Rocha Brava. We thought the food was ok but preferred O Farol. Rafaiol's has a good atmosphere but the food can be hit and miss. Once, we had to send back the sautéed potatoes as they weren't quite cooked. Another occasion after eating their Cataplana I was very ill but there's always a risk with seafood. Saying that though we would eat there again.

I would never give a restaurant a second chance, if this would happen to me: Foul food is unexcusable!

We have eaten at Rafaiol's Alfanzina and at "O Rafaiol" (at Carvoeiro, unfortunately closed now) for so many times over the past 12 years and never had a reason to complain.

Perhaps - and hopefully - you just have had bad luck. Last year, I had the chance to visit the kitchen at Rafaiol's and so I know that the kitchen and the cooker are tidy and that they cook with care and work with fresh ingredients.
