Overall review
Overall review
I have reviewed Happys, Taste, Ma-Jas, Vimar and Praia Grande (Ferragudo) elsewhere, and have to say that the best food and service at reasonable cost that we found in CVO was at Happys and Gales, both of which we visited 3 times. Sandra at Gales ("Hello my dears") is almost as good a host(ess) as Libbe at Happys.
We also enjoyed the beef on a stone at Casa do Bife, the spare ribs at Oasis before they closed, the fish at Galeria and the Sunday lunch at Cafe Ingles in Silves. Within walking distance of Rocha Brava we enjoyed the pizzas at Bella Napoli and the fish at O Jardim do Farol. The best value of all was lunch in Praia da Rocha at La Dolce Vita (opposite the 2 main hotels on the front). The have a pasta/pizza restaurant - excellent beer, soup, salad and lasagne for 17 euros. They also have an attached buffet restaurant which I have written about before. Cold buffet dishes, hot buffet dishes, and the manager keeps coming round with slices of different pizza. With a beer that cost the whopping sum of 9 euros each, yes, 9 euros. The food was first class and we were so full we couldn't even face a coffee afterwards. I think it's a couple of euros dearer in the evening but I have no idea how they can serve good food at that price and make a living. I can thoroughly recommend it.

Re: Overall review
Dennisg - you mentioned Oasis before it closed--- did you mean they were closing for the winter or permanently?
Re: Overall review
Closed for the winter - opening February or March I understand.
