Electricty Rating

Post by EMM »

How do we go about uprating the power into our villa.
During the winter it can be a problem balancing the number of appliances we have in use before the power trips.
As we will be installing aircon we can only think that the summer could be worse.
With aircon, fridge/freezer, dishwasher, washing machine ,pool etc.

Just go to EDP in Portimao tell them what you require and usually they send someone round within 24 hours its free of charge you just pay a little more each month, they also speak perfect English there, the job takes less than 5 mins.

It used to be free for the potencia to be increased. All that is involved is installing higher rated fuses fuses. However I think now that EDP charge for an upgrade. I certainly had to pay a large sum when I moved into my new villa a few years ago and wanted more power that the developers had allocated to the plot. If you need extra power you will need to do it anyway but best to check as to whether there are charges to avoid any nasty surprises.
