gas boilers

Hi all

We have been having trouble with our showers going hot and cold since we moved into our property in December,so we have had someone out to look at them today,and they have told us we have low water pressure in our area (Salicos) so our boilers are not the correct type,does this sound true or are we being taken for a ride!! any advice would be gratefully received as we have no knowledge in this field at all.Thank you.

Sounds plausible I'm afraid. We suffer a similar effect but I'm not convinced what the real solution is. Let us know how you get on.

I also live near salicos and have perfect water pressure, how old is the villa? could be you have the old galvenized steel pipes which calc up with water calcuim causing low water pressure or your boiler is calcud up, most newish villas have the new UPVC pipeing which dosnt calc up like mine has.

The guy we had out never mentioned the pipes, but did say he didnt think it was a calcium build up.We have had somebody else out today,and they have suggested fitting electric water heaters instead,saying that gas boilers can be a problem with fluctuating water pressures.Just not sure which way to go now!!

Fit a solar panel with electric back up. We had more than enough hot water for 6+ persons
in the summer and even in the winter on sunny days you will get warm water.

We have just returned - had alot of problems with the water pressure and the boiler cutting out. Not alone - our friends who we visited in Spain have same problem. It is worse at times of high demand. The previous owners had a a large electric immersion heater - when this was beyond repair we changed for a gas boiler, but will change back when this one fails and look at solar power options.
