A Rede
A Rede
I just had to post. Had an early dinner this evening as the Accordeo Bar is closed on a Sunday evening, so my normal two cocktails, then dinner, goes horribly wrong and I end up eating early. Anyway - i went down to A Rede - I usually visit. The food is consistentlly OK. Nothing that I would bother posting about.
However, tonight - get yourselves down there!!!
On arrival, Carlos gave me the spiel about the specials which I ususally ignore. Glad I didn't. He offered me fillet of dourada in a champagne sauce with jacket potato and vegetables. I was going to have lamb chops, but decided on the dourada. Oh my goodness - what a meal. It was absolutely superb.
I asked him if there was a new chef - he said yes, but he could have said that to humour me, who knows. But I can promise you that it was not the usual fare of the past 4 years that I have gone to this restaurant.
So - anyone in Cvo at the moment - wander up to the top of Restaurant Hill and try the fillet of dourada in champagne sauce (if there is any left). I made at least 6 other people order it as they could see how much I enjoyed it.
It is fantastic to see a restaurant trying something slightly different - and I applaud them for it!

Re: A Rede
I'm sorry but I don't think I could eat under such horendous lighting! I've heard its good but I just can't bring myself to go in!
Re: A Rede
Horrendous lighting? Nope - that one means nothing to me at all - you're going to have to be more specific!!!
Re: A Rede
Ok, do you want to sit in neon city? then this is it!!!!!
Re: A Rede
I'm sorry, but I still have no idea what you are talking about. I sat inside a nice restaurant last night and had a nice meal.
Where is the neon city?

Re: A Rede
When u come along the road when it is dark, u can see the lights around the outside, it looks like a fairground
Re: A Rede
Oh - the outside. Right.
Strangely, when you are in the restaurants there, you don't see any lights as they have canopys outside.
In fact, I actually live above one of them. Poor me.
I must get no sleep at all living in such a dreadful area

Gary and discovered this restaurant for the first time last November as there was very little open when last out there. We thoroughly enjoyed the meal with very friendly service. If they have a new chef then can't wait to try again this June.

I've eaten there many times, and the food is great. I'll be out next week and will definitely try the Dourada!

Re: A Rede
We have eaten there a few times! After the first two visits the "viagra in everything" banter is wearing. We had some fabulous meals once but the last time we went was the last visit we will ever make. The service was poor, the meal was extremely poor and the banter was even poorer.
Sorry but it is one restaurant I am not in a hurry to recommend to people.

Re: A Rede
WHich was the reason for me making a post about it!
The food is way improved from last season. However, for those of you who don't like Carlos, think the neon lights off putting and any other reasons - hey - they are full every night during the season so I think they will survive!!!

Re: A Rede
Unfortunately my experience matches that of Sharen. The food was not an issue but the service and the inane banter were. It is OK for families in season and will do good business for this reason but frankly what inexpensive restaurants up the hill are not full in season.
Re: A Rede
... and were full with a waiting list in February (but I am sure all the other restaurants were the same ...)
Anyway - to coin an overused phrase "whatever"
Being (what I like to consider) a bit of a restaurant buff, I felt it was worth telling you all that the restaurant fare is much improved at this restaurant.

It's always disappointing when someone posts a perfectly well meaning message on this site with good intentions only to be jumped on by those who can't take the views expressed at face value.
OK, so some of you rubbish A Rede because you went there at some time in the past and didn't rate it. This is an up to date review of the place - why can't you accept that it just may now have improved instead of making it sound as if fmm is lying!

Oh give over! No-one is making it sound as though fmm is lying! I am entitled to express my opinion the same as she is and as far as I am concerned it is a restaurant I won't be frequenting again! I'm not a "restaurant buff" nor a restaurant snob, but I also know what I like and what I don't and this is one I don't! My opinion!TomUK wrote:It's always disappointing when someone posts a perfectly well meaning message on this site with good intentions only to be jumped on by those who can't take the views expressed at face value.
