Rental License
Hello all,
I'm new to this board and relatively new to this country (6 months) I was just wandering if everybody who has a villa and wishes to rent it out have to apply for a licence with the regional tourist board and if so how long does it take after application ???
I have just bought in the Boliqueime area (Sorry no Boliqueime website) and am not sure whether to set up my own website or go through a letting agency???
Great website...
Regards

Hi Forza,
Officially, you have to register your object with the direcção geral de turismo if you want to rent it out. Be warned though, recently the red tape has become so long, that it will drag you through the town hall, the finance department and several other processes before your registartion is complete. It can proove to be quite a headache
For that reason, there are more and more new individual objects that are rented out without being registered with the DGT, in the hope that the process will be downsized to a reasonable amount of paperwork sometime soon.

Thanks Gambrinus,
Sorry, one last request, I was going to go to Carvoeiro and stay in a hotel this Friday as my fiancee is going back to the UK and hasn't seen Caveiro yet.
I was wandering instead if I could book into someone's villa for the night (Obviously paying the going rate) and spend 20 mins or so just chatting about the trials and tribulations of renting out property in the Algarve.
Kind regards,
Forza

Thanks guys,
It's for this Friday in or around Carvoeiro beach for 2 people (Double/twin room) for the 1 night. Preferably in a villa/Quinta, just hoping for a quick chat with the owner ( I promise I'm not going to bore the pants off you for 3 hours or so......)
Basically a leisure and fact finding trip.
My E-Mail is address m_marraro@yahoo.co.uk
