Portuguese language tuition - CLCC

Post by shanagarry »

Has anybody ever used CLCC in Portimao to learn Portuguese?

I am considering their Level 1 Intensive Course for 30 hours - how good are they?

Isn't there someone on here that does portuguese tuition? Think it was in the trading area - can't quite remember as have consumed too many cocktails this evening ...

Portuguese teacher Patricia works at the International School and does private lessons to suit you at the Tennis Club near Quinta do Paraiso. She is very good and is there several times a week.

My preference is for a structured tuition facility.

I have done an intensive beginners course at this college & thoroughly enjoyed it, in fact my daughter is going to do the beginners course later in the year & I am hoping to do the intermediate course. The school is very nice with good facilities, easy to find & parking is usually easy, though at this time of year it might be more difficult.

Thank you - I am going on Wednesday to enrol. They need a minimum of 5 to run a course and at the moment there's only 2 of us.

How good is your Portuguese as a result of the course?

I have done several Portuguese courses, at least 3 beginners & 2 pre-intermediate. The trouble is I tend to do them early in the year, the course ends, I'm all full of good intentions about practicing & keeping up with studying & then the weather gets warmer & visitors start arriving & the next thing I know is it's the end of August & I haven't picked up a book since April & apart from what I use in shops & restaurants I haven't really spoken a word of Portuguese. And so I start again in the new year determined that this time it will be different. Maybe next year it will be. The Portuguese sentence I use most? Desculpe nao falo Portuguese. But I will persist & who knows as I've said before maybe in 20 years I'll have mastered the basics. :D

I should add I have only attended one course at the CLCC. And as far as my slowness in learning the language is concerned the fault lies entirely with me.
