Access to Pools

Hi all,

Finding the forum very useful. I am travelling to Carvoeiro in a weeks time and I am staying in an Apartment somewhere near the top of resturant hill. Can anybody recommend a good pool that we could use?

The last time I was over we were able to use the ALgar seco pool however I dont thing this is open to non residents in the high season.

Any guidance would be appreciated. Thanks

Public pool in Silves, not sure on its opening times, probably closed high season.
Try Tivoli hotel and Hotel Crystal,Cvo sol,and the one up restuarant hill, Mira something, and when you are there pop into all that have pools and see what they say.

Oh if you are a golfer you could go to Buno vista other side of Lagos, they have a fab indoor pool and pamper facilities One of the golf ones just outside of CVO has a pool as well Grimacho or the other one. One has a fab lady that does massage and the other one has the pool.

I tried all the hotels in carvoeiro a few months ago when I needed somewhere to swim for post op Physio - they all said their pools were not open to non residents

There's a pool by the bus station at Lagoa and a very big one by the new square. If you follow the runway, down the slip and across the sand, you can't miss it.

Ktee, I have got a letter from the managing director of Tivoli Hotel to use the heated indoor pool on a daily basis whenever I am in CVO.
I suggest you contact him and get a written response the same as I have. Daily use of 10 Euros. Occasionally I spend the day up there, swimming, sunbathing on the terrace, and use all the facilities and have lunch or else I go to Buno vista its nice there, AGSIN ONLY 10 Euros per day. Also Hotel Domilu would also do it as well in CVO . Good luck

It's ok I can use my own pool for the next few months now - after that I'll go back to Lagoa municipal pool (provided I'm able to drive by then), only 2 euros per session

Kteee, I forgot about the Lagoa one. 2 Euros, great price. May I ask a few questions and perhaps you may be able to answer them for me/ us.
1. Is the pool heated.
2. Does one have to take along a medical certificate to use it.
3. Do you have to take flip flops etc with you and wear a hat.
4. Is it only open out of season, and closed thru the summer as is the Silves one.
Any other info apart from above questions answered that I forgot, cos must be loads. Many thanks Ktee.

Yes, it's heated - about 28º
No medical cert needed
Yes you need a hat and flip flops
If you pay for multiple sessions in advance it's even cheaper (I think you get 15 sessions for the price of 10) and there are discounts for children/over 65s
I don't know if it opens in the summer as I only need it in the winter when it's too cold to swim at home

You can use the pool at Vila Nova for 5 euros a day.

Doesn't Bubbles Bar have a pool that its customers can use? It always used to. Bubbles Bar is at the top of restaurant hill, there is an arrow signpost on a wall I think.

You could use the pool at Bubbles Bar along with the people in the apartments, had a ride up to Bubbles June 08 (to watch a rugby match) but it was closed. Anyone know if it has reopened?

We use the public pool in Silves every week when in residence. The main pool has no shallow end and is for swimmers only. Then there is a learner pool and a paddling pool. Lovely situation on the riverside, with picture windows so you can admire the view. Same requirements as Lagoa, but you also need to take passports for ID.
