good restaurant in silves??
Hi to everyone, just starting to gear up for our visit to CVO in August now that the sun is finally shining back in the UK. We have been staying up at Clube Atlantico for the last 12 years and only discovered the forum last year so thanks very much for the insight!! We holiday along with extended family and I have been emailing everyone pics of the square.
Just wanted to ask - we always visit Silves as the kids love the castle, but last year decided to go along in the evening for the Medieval entertainment (just me and hubby) - we really enjoyed it but could not find a nice restaurant anywhere - we came back to CVO and went to Ele & Ellas - which was delicious as ever. Does anyone know of a restaurant that would be classed on a par in Silves

Re: good restaurant in silves??
There are a couple of really nice restaurants in Silves but our favourite is one a few kilometers out of Silves. If you come out of Silves heading towards the junction with the hotel on your left and the road to Lagoa/cvo on the right, turn left past the Hotel and keep on this road just before you get to Poço Barreto, just before the train track goes across the road on the left hand side is a restaurant called O Alambique, it is a fabulous place, very good food and with great service, run by a German lady who is also the chef, far better than Ele and Ela ever was.

Silves has a number of excellent restauants, the Ponte de Romana, by the bridge and the nationally known fish and seafood places.
Re: good restaurant in silves??
There is the best seafood restaurant in the Algarve in Silves. It is called Rui's - you may need to book. Expensive (depending on what you eat) but you won't forget it in a hurry.
Re: good restaurant in silves??
I'm afraid our last couple of visits to O Alambique were disappointing, sadly I don't know if we'll go back - it used to be one of our favourites

Really Kteee?? We have never had a bad meal there in all the time we have been going.
Re: good restaurant in silves??
yes, we've had lots of nice meals there over the years but were disappointed the last couple of times - more the service than the food
also heard from friends who went at Christmas, previously loyal customers but also disappointed and doubt they'll go back

Rui's in Silves is reviewed on www.eatalgarve.com as are many other local restaurants.
Re: good restaurant in silves??
Just wander around a have a feel of the place. We have found a number of places to eat when in Silves. Some of the little places hace excellent cheap lunches once in the town itself. Along the river, there is one darkish place on the corner and the menu looks great and I do know people on this site have said it is great inthere for dinner. I wont pay the price for Ruis but found an even better fish restuarant up in the town where there are a couple side by side, but the one with the plump man outside always saying hello is great.Just wander and try. Its fun wherever even if its bad as long as you do not over spend, at least it gives you something to talk about and let us know. Enjoy

Thanks very much for the replies - will be checking them out ( can't come soon enough). When the sun is shining here in Yorkshire first thing in a morning my 6 year old says it smells of Portugal, I know just what he means xx

I agree with you, the smell of the food will tempt you to stop by and sample some fresh fish or Chicken Piri Piri. Once on a drive we stopped by a garage complete with nice tables and yummy food.thepropertydoctor wrote:Kazy in Silves is good for chicken piri piri
Re: good restaurant in silves??
We always go to O Cais on the main road for their chicken piri piri (E5.50 lunch ).
Service is not the fastest but the quality has always been reliable. as everthing is ccoked from fresh, so don,t go if in a hurry.
Passing traffic noise is a negative but inside its full of charm including its own well with resident fish ( subject to water clarity ).
We had lunch for 5 and then walked up the hill to cafe ingles for coffee and cakes, that cost more than the lunch.
