P.T Connection

Post by katie b »

Hi everyone, can I pick your brains again?
Can anyone tell me if the P.T telephone connection is compatible with UK handsets?
Thanks all again for your help. katie b

This probably won't help, but yes and no.

First, the plug is incompatible, but adapters are available. Second, while you should be able to dial out, my experience is that the phone won't ring on an incoming call.

Over the years I have used 4 or 5 different UK phones here without any problem at all after buying a new lead to connect the phone to the wall socket. The leads are cheap and have the same sized connector at both ends whereas the BT leads have a larger connector at the socket end and this will not fit the PT sockets.

I did bring one phone over for a friend and this did not work initially but the problem was resolved by switching a couple of the wires in the connecting cable.

Some of the BT phones are Siemens and are identical to the PT version.

Thanx, that's good to know, I'll try that on my old fax machine.
