Our apartment has gas central heating. When we were out last week we needed to put it on some evenings. The radiators seem to be needing bled. Could anyone advise how to bleed them. There is no key so dont know if one is needed and if so where can I purchase it. The apartment is only 4 years old. Any help would be appreciated.
Yes you will need to buy a key. Then bleed each radiator, starting with the one furthest away from the boiler, until water runs from each valve and all the air expelled.
Either the "B&Q" on the main road in Lagoa or more likely the hardware shop in the precinct in Lagoa, they sell just about everything. You could also ask a neighbor in the same block
some radiators don,t need a key .all you need is a small pair of shifters plus you don,t bleed the one furthest from the boiler you bleed the highest one first , if they are all on the same level you may have a towel rail on the system which would be the highest outlet
Gunner, our apartment is all on the one level. The towel rail is the highest, that is heating fine. It is two room radiators that are gurgling and not heating fully. There is a small chrome cap on the top of the radiators. How do I bleed them with the shifters rather than a key.
the chrome cap might have a flat edge on two sides which you use to undo it with the shifters if not the cap should come of with a pair of grips,once you have bled the rads and they still don,t get hot they might need cleaning out because they get sludged up
