I can't sleep with this storm going on (hence the time of writing) and now the lightening has just scored a direct hit on our house. There was a bright flash from the electrics in the living room and now we have no electricity, & looking out the window Caramujeira has been plunged into darkness. Goodness knows how long it will take for it to come back on. Horrendous weather.
Hi. The electricity has just this minute come back on,yay, & thankfully there doesn't seem to be any damage anywhere. My mother in law's house is under water though with the rain forcing it's way through the roof, good job she doesn't have carpets. The sun is shining at the moment although there are still lots of dark clouds about so I don't know how long that's going to last. I'm debating whether to risk putting some washing in, decisions, decisions!
I think anyone with an empty property should get in touch with their management company to check there has been no damage, especially to roof terraces or enclosed balconies
Well, as we had torrential rainfall for the majority of the weekend, and it is quite unusual for September - more like November weather - people may not have been prepared
At least the ground was not already saturated, which added to the problem when we had similar storms just before Christmas last year!
Twice this year I've panicked on hearing about heavy rains etc in and around CVO and jumped on a plane to check first hand (gave me a good excuse and all that). The guy who does the pool and maintenance assured me that he does keep a check on things but.....
Helen hope you're sorted now and that Caramujeira's recovering.
Monday's thunderstorm was horrendous, but for those of you worried about pending holidays, today is glorious.... was on the beach this morning lying in the typical sunshine and we're once again enjoying the Algarve that we know.
