Villa Managing-AT YOUR RISK- BEWARE-NEVER PAY MONIES UPFRONT

Post by BONDI »

Hello to all.

I am hoping to hear views from forum members with similar experiences as mine with regards to Vila Managers.. Along the years i have had good and mostly BAD Expereince with my villa managers. Lately i have been finding that a lot of these so called villa managers are just FLY BY NIGHT COWBOYS/COWGIRLS so to speak, they have absolutely no experience, or knowledge about what the job should really entail. Seems every tom dick ,and susan, and pams who land in the algarve have joined the band wagon , and overnight become a so called villa managers. They promise you the earth, to start off with, but when it comes to delivering the goods they are absolutley useless. I have after a long time found a very GOOD and absolutely professional person now. and the good thing about my vila manager is that she was open and honest and told me exactly what she could or could not do, and would you believe she has delivered excellent service for past 6 months, against these COWBOYS.COWGIRLS who are on the prowl of late looking to be paid money for lousy job upfront, and would you beleive half the time you would be lucky to get them to give you a proper invoice for your accountants, ie they are on the fiddle, as no fiscal number is given to you, and when you do request it you will never hear or see them again, and out goes the monies you paid up front, and with it any of your property, keys, etc.. they may be holding . So you have been WARNED to be very careful if you are employing the services of these so called do it all cheap as chips managing agents. DO ALWAYS ASK FOR THEIR FISCAL NUMBER, THERE FULL PROPERTY/BUSINESS ADDRESS, And do PLEASE get at least couple of references before you employ your Villa Managers.I would thus much appreciate views of members who might have had similar experiences as me, and would wish to throw some light on this matter :( :x :x :x :x

I totally agree. We had a similar experience but now have an excellent manager. The difference when you do get a good one is amazing.

Charles

I totally agree with you. It seems this managing agents business seems to be HIT and MISS type of thing. I am now (touch wood) very happy with my agent, and you will agree it really makes a lot of difference, especially if you dont live in the algarve, and have to rely on your agent to make sure your incoming tenants are looked after, and post departure clean, and pre arrival check and clean is to high standard. One of the comedienne I had wanted me to pay her for job not done, luckily i have friend in the algarve who do spot checks for me. Otherwise having to deal with last minute hitches can be so annoying, stressful, and damn right pathetic. One i had took money up front for cleaning and softy me paid up, but the quality of work was beyond belief. laundry not properly done, or ironed, windows not cleaned etc. eventhough i was promised it will all be done to 5star level.Well list of incompetences goes on and on. I just hope other forum members will not have to endure such experience, and be NOT TOO TRUSTING, and do ask around before employing the services of these Jokers.
