Just Body Fitness. I do know a couple of people who are members, but I don't know much about it personally, although I should get around to joining a gym myself really

Yes, my son and son in law did the same when we were out there. Doesn't it make you sick!Mike Banks wrote:Hi Lesley
Both my sons run half-marathons (The Great North Run), and when in Carvoeiro they run about 10K per day on the roads around the area, and swim. They seem to find this is sufficient training, without the need of a gym.

Gym
It costs €10 per session but I think you can get a weekly ticket which is cheaper. I used it a couple of times last week. It is small and quite limited in the quantity of kit. It does have the usual running machines, steppers and resistance equipment. The kit that it does have is all fairly new. Overall it is nothing like the gym I would be used to at home but it is more than sufficient if you are just looking to keep ticking over until you get home. It is air conditioned but still quite warm so the aircon on the wall would not be state of the art. Give it a try. From what you have said I think it will meet your needs.
By the way the instructor is very friendly and makes you feel very much at home.

Lesley Jean,
There is another one in Lagoa which I have not gone to but I think it is quite dated and not very good. There is a reasonable gym up at the Tennis club which has a lot more kit than the one in Lagoa but I find it very claustrophobic "now theres a big word for me"
It is very narrow but maybe you should take a drive and examine both. I think you would probably be more impressed by the tennis club (which is up by Pestana golf resort) but no matter where you go I don't think you are going to get the sort of facilites you are used to at home. I can only speak for Ireland but the facilities here are light years ahead of anything on the algarve that I am aware of.

They have a brand new machine in there.Lesley Jean wrote:probably be the one in Lagoa as it is so close.
I unfortunately felt sick after 20 minutes on it though.
Brilliant machine all the same. It does Mars Bars, Kit-Kats, crisps.............. the whole lot.
(Sorry folks, I just couldn't resist that one.)
