ATM Fees

Hi,
I'm sure this has been asked a thousand times so my apologies(I did have a trawl thru the site but could not find this question) What are the charges for using debit cards in the ATMs in the Algarve? In Ireland there is no charges is it the same in Carvoeiro?

Last time I was in Carvoeiro it cost me an extra £1.75 each time I used ATM. I think it's better to pay that than to carry loads of cash out with you. Saves you the bother of exchanging money before you travel.

I've not paid charges at all using a visa debit card (nationwide) or a Barclay's debit card.

Is it not the card rather than the machine that attracts the charge ?

There is an enormous post somewhere about this - basically everyone said use Nationwide and another new typeof card but I can't remmeber what it was called!
