A Fonte, Carvoeiro
Have you tried this one? Up the steps by the side of The Irish Times restaurant?
Ive had some nice lunches there, once again where the Portuguese eat and relaxed atmosphere. Quite good sardine lunch and nice cataplanas.
They don't do a bad steak with egg either and not expensive.

We've eaten there a few times and never had cause to complain. I don't know if the little takeaway is theirs as well but that is always full of locals which is normally a good sign.
Personally, no matter how good the restaurant, I don't like eating in the middle of the pavement with vehicles passing by. A Fonte is set back nicely, all you get is the heavy breathing as people struggle up the steps.

I know what you mean Ray, Im not keen on eating right out on the pavement either....you can be troubled by dogs and folk gaping at you as you eat
When I go to Colombos I prefer to eat down the steps or inside...on my last hols I did have to eat 'Up the stairs' against the wall but I didn't mind that time as I was watching the rugby

Sounds like you had a good hol StevieStevie-C wrote:We ate there twice during our holiday. Great food and good prices.
I shall miss my lunch at A Fonte this year,as I won't be going to Carvoeiro.
I like eating there, for as Laser says, its up and away from the pavement.
Somewhere I like to relax.
Im getting so fed up with not seeing Algarve this year.,get terrible withdrawal symptoms...but all being well & health allowing, I hope to visit in the Spring.

Hub has the Portugese Steak says its great.
Prices very good and house white nice.
People we know who live there, in CVO go regularly and as they have so many choices - good recommendation.

and as you say, if the locals frequent a place its a good sign.
I can't remember all the little places we went to when living there.. always where the Portuguese ate (mostly inland) and don't recall a bad meal ever and the places were very clean.
