17 days to go!!!

Post by jadzia »

Hi everyone out there - we are counting the days till our trip - very very exited now - we have such a busy schedule - will be looking at houses in the CVO area, and Tavira, and also we shall consider the Spanish Algarve as we hear it's alot cheaper to buy over there, but of course our first choice will always be to live in the Algarve. Plus the added joy is that we won't have the kids with us for a whole week - we haven't been anywhere without them for so long before!!!. Thanks to everyone who has recommended lawyers and surveyors etc!!! I just can't wait.

Haven't posted here for ages as I've been so busy organising and sorting things out but have had fun catching up on reading some of the posts this morning - you guys make me laugh - especailly when someone gets wound up!!!

PS give the dogs at Piu's a cuddle from me - I promise when we live out there one can come home with me - (i only have 2 dogs and 4 kids already LOL)

What a nice, sunny uplifting message Jadzia--I for one wish you every success and happiness in finding your new home--whether it be in CVO area or the Spanish Algarve----saw a programme on that recently and it does look lovely place and as you say cheaper.
Youll be out there same time as me--Im there for month from sept 6th--and it cant come quick enough for me -really feel in need of a good hol!
You must really love dogs as you are considering taking on another poor homeless one. I hope to do a few days work at the charity shop Lagoa in aid of animals, during my stay. They do wonderful work , NanRichardson & colleagues for this charity and need all the support they can get--also Linda Pixley in Portimao.
Happy home search&hope weather stays good for us all
Ellie. :D

Dogs

Post by jadzia »

Hi Ellie - thanks for your good wishes (mind you I have just found out that the house I had particularly fallen in love with is under offer already - darn!!) Hopefully there will be another one around the corner. I won't have time on this visit to go to the dog charity shop but if can give me the address I will make sure i get to visit it as soon as we are resident. I have already put money into the can that's on the counter in the Palacio do cono in CVO. Good for you putting some hours in for them - there are some lovely dogs that need proper homes that wander round the cafes and praia - apparently they are most usually from old people that have died and their relatives don't want to take the dogs on so they are chucked out. That's why they are so friendly becuse they have been pets. there is one little terrier bitch we grew particularly attached to that we named Patch, she got into some fights (was picked on) by the big dogs and we treated her wounds with the help of the cafe Piu owner, he promised to look after for me till i can get back permanently, so I shall be looking out for her especially. Well Ellie have a wonderful month - maybe I'll see you if you are making a fuss of the dogs too!!!

Sorry to hear about house letdown Jadzia--what a shame--I always say-if i won the lottery--id buy an old Portuguese house in the countryside---
Some friends of ours bought a large old house in Lagoa--when we lived there--and made a wonderful home with refurbishments. Its walls were nearly two feet thick -lovely cool in the extreme summers heat. They put in new wood floors and we installed a fitted kitchen for them.Although we had a very nice apartment there -I really envied them that house.
Anyway -happy house hunting--it can be quite a stressful business cant it?Sincerely hope all goes well for you,
Ellie
animal charity shop is in pedestrianised part of Lagoa -near to chinese restaurant.
yes-you never know -we could well bump into each other! Good luck!
