Having eaten at the casa algarvia several times over the last year I was very dissapointed to go there this year and have a bad meal, does anyone know if they have a different chef? The food this time was tasteless, and not only mine. What a shame
Oh Dear! Oh Dear! This has for a long time been one of my favourite restaurants and I am flying out on Thursday morning and will probably be aiming to eat there in the evening. I can only hope that the previous writer's experience was a 'one off'.
We ate in Casa Algarvia on 25/1 this year and had a lovely meal. The restaurant was packed with about 20 people waiting for tables at one point - I don't see any reason to worry about going there this weekend
FAB place, FAB staff, everything just perfecto. Food second to none, agree with house desserty comment!
Paulo was a little 'happy' last time we were there too.
Quite simply, they made our hols, Thanx for a great time guys!
Carolyn and Lee (now honourary waiters)!!!

We have just returned from the algarve and enjoyed many excellent meals at casa algarvia. Also enjoyed chico's and maxine's. The only problem was the deserts they are all frozen apart from the delious tiramasu. What did other people think of the deserts? Has anybody else noticed one of the waiters at casa algarvia looks like Mel Gibson ????
Hi, I was Spain (shh!) over Easter and it was all frozen desserts there too - only Greece and France seem to be keeping up appearances with delicious freshly made desserts. To be fair I do not think it is such a recent thing, my children were eating frozen pingu desserts in Carvoeiro as toddlers and they are teenagers now - although they did get a sparkler and a cocktail umbrella too!
That is why you have to either have the house dessert at Casa Algarvia (deeeeeeelicious!!) ... or ..... walk to the ice-cream shop and have a pancake (also deeeeeeelicious!!)
Jo
I think the house dessert around 10 pm, a few coffees and liquers on the square and icecream to sustain for the walk back at around midnight sounds just fine!
Always a little harder to justify when staying at the Carvoeiro Sol but we have managed it a few times.
