the good, the bad and the downright dangerous!
having just returned from 2 weeks at CVO (RB) 
I wanted to share some of our experiences with restaurants this year.
Best meal - l'orange (and no service problems at all)
Most fun meal - chicken george which we tried at last after many years and thoroughly enjoyed as a welcome change and good food
Worst service - O Farol by far, never ever again. It took one hour just to get bread and when an incorrect meal was brought (pork for a non meat eater) there was no hint of an apology even though I gave the head waiter an easy get out re the loud music. To say he was rude and surly is an understatement.
My husband thought it would end in a fight, luckily I behaved myself.
Worst meal, Via Italia - one starter that was brought was a raw (as in still grey and slimey) prawn salad, which, bless, one of our guests tried to eat before we realised what was up. The rest of the food was also very poor.
Most friendly service - Jardim do Farol.
Most informative host - Julio, but then we count as 'favoured regulars'
As an aside, the 7 teenagers were fantastic company

Definitely agree with your comments with one aside to add. Chef Antonios was really bad on our last visit whereas it was great on the proceeding visit. L'Orange was too our favourite, and fun at Chicken George and Julios a great meal with very informative and friendly service.Great champers by the glass there. We are doing the same round next week when we go back for ten days with a visit this time to The Village Inn and both Algar Seco places to eat and will try the one recommended up by the market.
