Internet at home

Post by gilva18 »

Good Morning,
My parents have recently moved permantly moved to the Algarve and are struggling to get the internet in their home. They have a computer which they took from England and obviously a telephone connected to one of the portuguese networks.
Can anyone offer any advice both on broadband and pay as you go. Any phone numbers, company names, prices etc. Basically something where they can pick up the phone and somebody who speaks English can go round to the house and set up a connection.
Many thanks
Steve

We use Sapo (www.sapo.pt), and find them to be very helpful. They also do a pay as you go connection, but it does tend to eat the money. They can be contacted on 707 227 276, and select 9 at the recorded messages for english speaking assistance. Thet usually answer quite quickly as well !!

Try world brokers. I think you get more for your money. They are part of the Portugal News group of companies. I can't remember their details but you will probably find them on the Portugal News website: www.the-news.net

Orange upgraded me to 2MB today and the email confirmation included this

OHCS II - Serviços de Internet LDA, Rua de São Francisco No 3, 2 Andar;
9000-050 Funchal; Madeira; Portugal, Company no. 07529/2005.08.22

Possibly an Orange subsidiary or something.
