I am only going to say this once ,nobody over has any problem with a ban in the work place it is only the pubs that are causing the problem,not the restraunts or the cafes or anywhere else just the pubs most of which have state of the art extraction equipment installed,which was decreed by the powers that be 2yrs ago and it is not repeat not for you the costomers sake it is for the barmen that this law has been brought in.If tony blair decides that road deaths are too high will you be happy if he decides that you can only drive your car every other day, before you scoff ,this was an idea that was actually mooted some years ago.

An article in yesterdays news stated statistics to say 4x4 owners in UK actually very rarely take their vehicles out of city, town, or off road. I can appreciate that some owners living in countryside, farmers etc. need these larger vehicles but I would certainly opt for a ban on city, surburbanites owning these vehicles which they cant even judge the width of.

These polluting monstrosities are just as dangerous as cigarettes so lets ban the drivers of these who seriously dont need these vehicles for work etc. and who just drive them as a status symbol!!! Or lets be reasonable, just make them pay a higher tax as is applied to cigarettes. Will be so easy for the DVLC to do when people have to provide address details etc & renew their tax each year

In fact the Govt. is worried about obesity now so why don't we weigh people at the check in and make the heavier people pay more for their flights - dont forget the heavier the plane the more fuel it uses. In fact why don't we ban ugly people from being seen in public

In that case, I would start by banning americans - they will all have their status revoked and will from now on be called ameripeans, all guns and bullets will be banned sale to the general public. That should save 11.000 lives per year plus all those millions that are spent on curing people who have been shot.
Furhtermore I move to ban people with an IQ below 70 from running for president or any other position that gives them power to change things...omg, this could go on forever - why dont we just descend into anarchy and start over????

'You get them at a chemist, sister. Just go and ask the pharmacist for them.'

The next day the good sister went to the chemist and walked up to the counter.

'Good morning, sister,' the chemist said, 'what can I do for you today?'

'I'd like some condoms please,' said the nun.

The chemist was a little taken aback, but recovered soon enough and asked, 'How many boxes would you like? There are 12 to a box.'

'I'll take six boxes. That should last about a week,' said the nun.

The pharmacist was truly flabbergasted by this time and was almost afraid to ask any more questions. But his professionalism prevailed and he asked in a clear voice. 'Sister, what size condoms would you like? We have large, extra large, and the big liar size.'

The sister thought for a minute and finally said: 'I'm not certain, perhaps you could recommend a good size for a Camel?'

Hey, wanna send your picture in, so we can judge if you should be allowed to walk the street? And, while I'm on, us 4x4 owners already pay through the nose. My five grand Jeep can hardly be called a status symbol, but I do pay heavily for the privilege. More fuel (more tax), more on road tax (350 or so euros), and more on insurance (more tax). And, I need a four wheel drive to tow my trailer, to deliver great big boxes and of cigars, ciggies and pipe tobacco, so the smokers of the Algarve, can express the freedom of choice in their favourite bar ror restaurant.

I take no position on smoking, and I can understand those who don't like the smell, etc.. I must say however that the connexion between passive smoking and cancer has NOT been proved. I know of no accepted scientific study which proves the connexion, or has even studied it. There has been a lot of uninformed speculation on the part of advocacy groups, and some unwise and misleading statements by low level civil servants but the facts just aren't there, and are unlikely to be. As far as medical science is concerned, there is no quantifiable risk to health being in a room with somebody smoking. This doesn't mean that you have to be there, of course, it just means there is no serious health concern, if you are.

Exaggeration does not prove your case - drinking is not worse than smoking. It may not be any better but it certainly isn't worse, the difference being that having a drink beside someone does not affect their health - smoking does.
Non smokers ARE forced to inhale smoke.
I agree with point about cars - I don't drive so am not guilty in this respect.

But . . . common sense suggests strongly that second hand - unfiltered - tobacco smoke inhaled must be as dangerous or more so than "first hand" smoke if the connection has been proven in the latter case as it has. That inference is excellent science!

Yep. If its got a big petrol engine 3.5 litres + is actually 365 euros per year. Still who wants to drive a tractor ?

So, as I say we already penalised heaily enough. Of course if you drive a sub one litre shopping trolley that is more than about 15 years old it costs just 5 euros per year. No kidding. I think you could call that sexual discrimination.
