We just want to get enought rentals to cover the apartment costs anything over that is a bonus so if we don't like the offer we don't take it. Personally I find renting a hassle & would prefer not to, but as we hardly use the apartment in the summer it would be daft not to make it pay for itself.

Reading between the lines I think matoserrao99 sees his property as an investment property a kind of buy to let, To rent out and make money. The world has changed though and most holiday villa/apartment owners these days no longer see them as an investment (some are losing money, some are trying to sell) As Blue has said a lot of owners seem to rent their holiday homes out to cover the running costs and then use them themselves for holidays when they can.

Matoserrao99 seems to have taken his ball and bat home, So maybe we will never know. I do think saying he "could have rented it out ten times over" at £1000 a week (in the present economic climate) is more wishful thinking than the actual truth :?:

interesting subject. I don't rent out (yet- anyway)but found myself very interested in this thread. would appear the the op is pricing top end and being very rigid about it. also appears he came across a chancer early doors and didn't know how to handle the situation ie bit of negotiation and everybody happy and no post here.

these apartments are directly opposite mine and although far from a villa they are 2 bedroom duplex. would appear to have no real difficulty in renting for fairly substantial weekly rents. £1,000 might be too much in the current climate but more than £500 was attainable.
