If you want to go on a budget holiday - go to Butlins. How can any eatery be expensive in Carvoeiro? Food to eat out in Portugal is probably the cheapest in Europe - certainly far cheaper than in the U.K. yes?
O'Patio is a special place to go for a birthday anniversary etc so you pay more. You would expect to if it is special. Don't put the man off.

Rob,

Thanks for the info re which restaurants are open. We leave tomorrow, the 3rd so should be able to get to l'Orange. Does anyone have the number for l'Orange - I can't seem to find it on the 'restuarant' page

There's a wonderful search button at the top of this page. I entered L'Orange and hey presto:
Phone number for L' Orange is 282 357 297 Closed Sundays and remember no credit cards.

You're welcome Jason, but ooops, I forgot to credit E-llen with the original posting that I copied.

We're also heading out tomorrow morning from Gatwick. Have a great anniversary and hope the weather remains good. I see one forecast for rain on Sunday (overdue, but unwelcome  )

I've seen the weather, looks OK up until Sunday but sadly we are coming home that day. At least it looks like it may be dry for the game of golf I've booked for Friday. We're doing Easyjet from Luton so have the M1 to look forward to in the morning

Have a good trip.

Surely the most important thing is having a birthday dinner with the friends and family you like the most (who says we have to like ALL the family  ), if the place you choose is fantastic lucky you, if it's dreadful, have a laugh. Which ever way you'll remember the night!! My choices are (making sure you tell them in advance it's a birthday party and you'd like a cake) O Cantinho, Jardim do Farol, A Marisqueira and Julio's (yes folks I mean it). You could always have a BBQ and get everyone to chip in with cooking, shopping AND washing up. What ever you choose HAPPY BIRTHDAY. Bifas 1st Darling
