Im not sure what nationality you are Irlandesa..is your name 'Irish lady'in Portuguese?
But from my limited Portuguese think Digger was calling me his 'China'...cockney rhyming slang 'Old China plate'=mate!

term of affection I hope Digger?

Like to think of myself more as 'maduro' ? or full of 'amadurecimento'?
Hows my grammar Digger/Graham ?

Yes, I am Irish. I believe "Sou Irlandesa" means "I am Irish", the "a" at the end of the word "Irlandesa" denoting that I'm a woman.

However, I live in London and have done so for many years. My partner was born within the sound of Bow Bells so I know that "china plate" is Cockney rhyming slang for "mate" and I'm sure you're a good one!

I too have been on holiday in Carvoeiro many times over the past 20 years. I know that my knowledge of Portuguese is sketchy at best but I didn't expect to be slagged off because of my misuse of a verb! Also, as Digger said, Guest should learn how to spell the word "grammar".

Perhaps I should add that none of my comments should be taken seriously. This is after all meant to be a lighthearted Forum.

Off to Carvoeiro soon - can't wait.

Im from south of Thames ..Peckham and I never knew that much rhyming slang when young but Hub did and he taught me

and you are quite right that this should be a light-hearted' place..a place we come to not only for info & guidance but for a little banter and a giggle ..makes life a bit more cheerful doesnt it?

Hello, bit boring really, my name, Lesley, It is always being spelt the boys way - Leslie. I hated it as a girl in school as you can imagine it would get shortened to Les and then I would get called aaa!! nice kids!
Dont mind my name now as long as people don't shorten it, I used Lesley Jean as that is also my middle name, and hubby calls me that when he is being cute! This is Lesley Jean forgot to sign in.

How do yis do it ..all of a sudden these names become all magical and wonderful..mind you there is a certain something about tabeetha and ellie ..even guest is startin to sound a bit special...but king bleedin, rodrick ..will ye get out of it..like somethin out of the life of brian ...king rodders with the five and a half foot wille..jaysus ye wouldn,t see it in a circus..are ye sure your not gettin mixed up with the chap of the baldricks from blackadder.Doesnt yer man digger have a hellava memerory..one litte mention..just in passing like ..that the mammy in law might be anything other then a white anglo saxon protestant and its never forgotten ..these public relations boys are a rare breed..is that really what your into ..like the carlsberg ad..howya boss i think i found the perfect spot for de christmas party, jaysus fair play to ye ..i did a bit of contract work for a pr crowd once years ago..they were doing the 7up beat on the street yoke ..granted the money was mega but sure i thought it was all going to be lots of gargle ,loose woman and party on ..me arse..i spent three weeks draggin, a 30 ft caravan all over ireland drownded to the b.... i was like a shaggin knacker at the end of it .id say they didn,t know wether to pay me or set me up in sheltered accomadation...christ how did i get on to this..oh yea yea yea the name thing ...madalene ..now theres a name to conjour up thoughts of elegent woman slow moving water punts overhanging branches and wild woodbine ..d.h lawerence...by the way did anybody get the impression that maddi may have changed a bit, bit of saddness in the post maybe..don,t know why but i can,t get it out of my head that somethings wrong..listen i had to put the aul dog down last week and maybe thats whats doing it, hope i haven,t caused any upset...anyway off to milton keynes to morrow for a christening so i,d better go and practise me drinking.

Yes I am heavily into coffee - but it is more to do with the webbing between the toes (as in water dog).

But I wouldnt see my name as being different or a little magical as is Tabitha's!Tho in the past..I have had my name whispered in different accents and made it sound nicer ..sexier?

Digger I didnt quite understand Bicas "webbing between toes like water dog "either... maybe he'll' enlighten us

But then re-reading MY post...Im not sure I undestood that either

Others pronunciation of our names you know?
I say Ellie..and it sounds ordinary? But others have said it and it sounds sort of mm mm..specially with an 'accent' of some kind... or in a 'breathy' kinda way..thats really sexy...
d'you get my meaning?
Even 'Cuthbert ' would sound very very alluring if whispered by a husky-voiced French mademoiselle..oui monsieur?
