There are some very good samaritans out there that Sandy has thankfully received the benefit of their kindness. It is the thieves that get all the publicity.

Earllier this year I stupidly left my wallet in the side pocket of the car and of course the wallet fell out. A person found it and took it to the local Police station. The money(£150) was not taken and all the debit and credit cards were left intact. I asked at the Police station for the contact details of the person to thank him/her. The Police officer told me that the finder preferred to remain anonymous. All I was told was that he was a chap from Newcastle on a weekend trip to London. It makes you feel very humble.

Sharen and I have found a wallets and a purse this year. In each of them we found the driver's licence and took their property back to their owners. Each of them was surprised that such honest people still exist. Sad, isn't it, that we expect to be robbed and our property never returned?

How else do you suppose we can afford to rent villas at Christmas?

We never leave anything of value in a hire car, and, contrary to what Michael has found, all our hired hatch-backs have had rear parcel shelves , but I like the idea of removing them.
Problem with going to a beach is that you need your passport, driving licence and vehicle hire car details with you, in case the GNR stop you. It's too risky to leave them in the car, so the only alternative is that one of the party stays on the beach and guards the valuables, whilst the other(s) swim. Not ideal, but safest!
